Sandalwood scent helps wounds heal faster!

How are you doing?

One of my favorite shows, " Learn New Knowledge with Kazulaser !", finally gave me some information that is useful in my field of expertise.

It has been discovered that when the scent of sandalwood is felt on the skin, wounds heal faster.
This is apparently based on research results from the Ruhr University Bochum in Germany (2014). Professor Masashi Nakatani, an associate professor at Keio University, who spoke on the program, said that Japanese incense was also used, but it is unclear whether he actually burned incense or not.

However, while the effectiveness of incense is still reported by word of mouth and no scientifically proven results have been found, it is still welcome to learn such sensational information that the scent is not only detected by the nose, but also by the skin (skin cells), and that it enhances the skin's regenerative ability.

According to a researcher at Givaudan, a fragrance company where I used to work, whether it's aroma (essential oils) or incense, the effects and efficacy of both are the same because they are made up of the same chemical components. I think there may be some differences depending on the format used (liquid or powder), but I personally agree with my former colleague.

In addition, the skin is a layer of cells between the body and the environment, and it is known that its outermost cells, keratinocytes, contain odor receptors. They have the sense of smell and taste, and can make autonomous decisions without going through the brain.

The ingredients in traditional Japanese incense are the same as those in traditional Chinese medicine, and its effective effects include killing bacteria and relieving pain, so this makes sense.

By the way, sandalwood features in four fragrances in Bridge and Blend's "Six in Sense."
