Making Tale of Genji incense in Los Angeles
How are you doing?
It's four months until the next incense day . Just four months ago, we had the opportunity to hold an " Incense Making Workshop " at JAPAN HOUSE Los Angeles , an overseas base project that aims to broaden the base of deep understanding and empathy for Japan by expressing and promoting "Japan as a country that enriches the world." Amazingly, tickets sold out within 30 minutes of the event being announced, breaking the record for the fastest sellout at the time.

We have released a video taken with the participants at that time.
I feel happy every time I see the smiles of the participants as they enjoy creating, letting their inner children fully express themselves.
The experience of listening to pleasant scents is meant to help you face yourself and share time with your feelings. You can also hear comments (in Japanese and English) from participants who have found peace of mind with the Japanese scent "Six in Sense," so be sure to check it out.
This workshop was part of the exhibition " JAPANESE LIFE THROUGH SCENT | SUMMER " at WAZA, the concept store of JAPAN HOUSE Los Angeles, for which I also served as curator. The product display grouped scents that evoked summer into three categories, so we asked participants to create KAYO | Lotus Leaf from Bridge and Blend's "Six in Sense."
The summer scent of the Heian period when The Tale of Genji was written, "lotus leaves," is the lotus flower. The evolution of the lotus flower scent in incense products, In addition to the incense ingredients, the participants also sampled essential oils and perfumes, allowing them to experience the different expressions that can be produced using the same ingredients.
